The Executive Governor of Delta state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has claimed that no one can stop him from emerging as the running mate to the presidential flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
Okowa made the disclosure through the state commissioner of information, Charles Aniagwu, noting that it is only God that can work against his emergence as running mate of Atiku.
He added that he has immensely contributed to PDP, but because it is his responsibility to do so, he cannot brag about it.
The governor denied rumors that the former governor of Delta state, James Ibori is secretly working against his chances to be Atiku’s running mate.
The commissioner stated that his boss has been called on to help the party many times during its primary elections.
In Aniagwu’s words:
“I am not aware if there is anybody who is bringing any roadblock, if there is anybody who is going to block Okowa, I think it should be God.”
He further explained that God would not do anything against Okowa because he has not offended God.
According to him, there is no problem between the former governor and Okowa because they have been working closely for long. And neither Chief James Ibori nor Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has said anything bad .
