Nsukka Leaders Launch New Era for Adada Education Foundation Pledge Support for Underprivileged Students

A new chapter has opened for the Adada Education Foundation as Reverend Father Dr. Chidubem Nwaogaidu, a clergyman and academic who recently returned from Germany, has been named the Executive Secretary of the organization. The foundation, established by eminent sons and daughters of the Nsukka cultural zone, is dedicated to advancing education for underprivileged youths while also equipping them with entrepreneurial skills to prepare them for a competitive future.

The announcement was formally made in Enugu on Wednesday by Dr. Chinedu Onu, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees (BoT), during a strategic meeting with executives and selected ad-hoc staff. Dr. Onu also disclosed that Venerable Christian Eze had been appointed as Deputy Secretary. According to him, both men were nominated by the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Prof. Godfrey Onah, and the Anglican Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Dr. Aloysius Agbo, based on their proven integrity, and subsequently confirmed by the Board of Trustees.

In his remarks, Dr. Onu explained that the Foundation was born out of a philosophy rooted in collectivism—“Igwebuike”—rather than individualism, with the aim of fostering rapid and quality education in the region. He stressed that the long-term vision is to spark an industrial revolution in Nsukka through education.

Dr. Onu further clarified that the Foundation carries no political undertone, as it is designed to be managed by respected religious leaders, traditional rulers, and accomplished professionals. “This initiative is for the progress of our people,” he said. “We have intelligent young men and women, but many lack the resources to pursue tertiary education. Through this platform, we can sponsor them, even to study abroad, and once they secure jobs, their contributions will improve diaspora remittances and create a cycle of support for others.”

Accepting the appointment, Rev. Fr. Nwaogaidu expressed his excitement about the vision of the Foundation. He described it as a transformative opportunity to redirect the lives of less-privileged young people through education, thereby reshaping the broader societal outlook. “When I first heard of this initiative, I knew something remarkable had come to stay. With the caliber of leaders on the BoT, including our bishops, I assure you that this light will continue to shine brighter during our tenure,” he pledged.

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from notable figures. Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Igwe Ikechukwu Asadu, congratulated the appointees and urged Nsukka sons and daughters to support the project.

Highlights of the event included the official handover of a brand-new Ingrace Estel vehicle, donated to the Foundation by Dr. Chinedu Onu, who also presented other assets of the Foundation to the new leadership.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Mrs. Ezekwu Olangwa, Special Adviser to the Enugu State Governor on Diaspora Matters; Prof. Kay Onyechi, Chairman of the Nsukka Anglican Diocesan Education Board; Prof. Malachy Okwueze, former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Government; His Worship Nkechi Ngwu; Barr. Levis Uche Abonyi, former Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship Board; and Dr. Onyejiri Chikodi, among several others who came to show their support.
