Kylian Mbappé, the French football star, has clarified his nationality, stating “I am not a Cameroonian, I am a French man”. He made this statement after reports emerged that he had been approached by the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) to play for the national team.

According to Mbappé, his father was asked to pay a substantial amount of money for him to join the team, which led them to opt for France instead.

Mbappé expressed his gratitude towards France for providing him with opportunities, saying, “This France that has given me a chance to show the world what I’m capable of”. He emphasized that despite having Cameroonian roots through his father and Algerian roots through his mother, he identifies as French and will continue to represent France.

It’s worth noting that Mbappé has spoken about his dual heritage, stating that Cameroon and Algeria are both part of him, and he supports both countries. However, when it comes to his nationality, he affirms that he is French.
