Anioke Calls for Unity Among Greater Awgu Media Practitioners

…..says the unity of media practitioners from Greater Awgu will bring development to the zone .

 

The Managing Director of Freedom Square Tv and The immediate past President of Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA), Uchenna Cyril Anioke, Ph.D., has called on media practitioners from Greater Awgu cultural zone to unite and work for the progress and development of the area.

Chief Anioke made this call on Sunday, 15th March, 2026, during a monthly meeting of Greater Awgu media professionals held at his Enugu home.

He stated that Greater Awgu, which consists of Awgu, Aninri and Oji River Local Government Areas, is made up of intelligent, and well-trained media experts that can change the narratives of underdevelopment being experienced in the zone and can set agenda that will ultimately transform the cultural zone into an area to be reckoned with.

Chief Anioke further stated that the media is one of the major tools that can bring uncommon development to areas that lack it. Dr Anioke also confirmed to his colleagues that Greater Awgu has a dominant ownership of media platforms in Enugu State and can as well set development agenda for the state.

He posited that the media community from the zone must begin to see itself as a strategic force capable of shaping public opinion, promoting unity and drawing attention to the enormous human capital and natural resources within the area.

According to him, when professionals from the same background collaborate and support one another, they create opportunities for collective growth and improved representation in both public and private spheres.

 

Chief Anioke also stated that, many sons and daughters of the Greater Awgu area are already making meaningful contributions in journalism, broadcasting, public relations and digital media across the country which is why they should be encouraged to build stronger networks that will allow them to exchange ideas, mentor younger practitioners and use their platforms to highlight issues affecting their communities.

 

He also urged the group to remain committed to professionalism, ethical reporting and constructive engagement with leaders and institutions; adding that, media professionals from the area will not only promote the interests of Greater Awgu but also contribute positively to promoting the many developmental programs of the state government as well the national dialogue.

 

On a final note, Dr Anioke urged Greater Awgu Media Professionals, to vigorously protect the greatest the interests of communities in the area by holding both elected, and cultural/ religious leaders accountable.
