PRESS RELEASE: CANUK Congratulates His Excellency Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu on the Formal Commencement of His Tenure as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom

The Central Association of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, CANUK, warmly congratulates His Excellency Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, following the formal presentation of his Letters of Commission to His Majesty King Charles III at St James’s Palace, London.

The historic diplomatic ceremony, held on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, officially marks the commencement of His Excellency’s tenure as Nigeria’s principal diplomatic representative in the United Kingdom.

 

During the audience, His Excellency was received by His Majesty The King and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for the Federal Republic of Nigeria in London.

 

CANUK describes this significant milestone as a renewed opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, particularly in areas of diplomacy, trade, education, culture, investment, immigration support, and diaspora engagement.

As the recognised umbrella body representing Nigerian community associations across the United Kingdom, CANUK looks forward to a constructive and productive working relationship with His Excellency and the Nigeria High Commission in London.

CANUK remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote the welfare, unity, visibility, and positive contribution of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, while also advancing meaningful collaboration between the Nigerian diaspora and institutions at home and abroad.

Speaking on behalf of CANUK, the Chairman, Hon. Ily Maisanda, said:

He added:

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also shared images from the ceremony and described the moment as an important diplomatic milestone that reaffirms the longstanding relationship and cooperation between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
