Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, has issued a stark warning to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to purge his administration of “kakistocrats”—incompetent and unsuitable officials—to prevent further public embarrassment and policy failures.

Speaking on current national developments, the lawmaker expressed concern over the quality of governance within the executive arm, pointing to recent administrative missteps and structural loopholes.

Ndume highlighted high-profile irregularities, including revelations regarding unapproved or fraudulent agencies operating from within the Presidency and the subsequent suspension of senior civil servants, as evidence of a fractured advisory framework.

He argued that the presence of ill-equipped aides and officials around the President is undermining government policies, mismanaging public communication, and alienating citizens. Rather than constructively engaging critics and addressing the severe economic strain facing everyday Nigerians, Ndume criticized key presidential spokespersons for resorting to personal attacks and dismissive rhetoric.

The senator stressed that while Nigerians have endured the painful economic consequences of major policy shifts, such as fuel subsidy removal, their patience is wearing thin due to slow-paced relief measures and perceived official ineptitude.

He warned that if President Tinubu fails to take decisive corrective action against ineffective personnel within his cabinet, the administration’s credibility and the ruling party’s political standing will continue to suffer heading toward future elections.
