The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Isiyaku Usman, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl and stealing her mobile phones.

The suspect was arrested following a report made to the police concerning the alleged sexual assault of the minor.

According to reports, the police commenced an investigation after receiving the complaint and subsequently apprehended Usman in connection with the incident.

The suspect is also accused of stealing two mobile phones belonging to the victim.

The Bauchi State Police Command said investigations into the case are ongoing, while the suspect is expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The police reiterated their commitment to protecting children and ensuring that anyone found culpable of sexual offences against minors is brought to justice.

The case comes amid continuing concerns over child sexual abuse in the country, with police commands across several states reporting arrests and investigations involving alleged defilement of minors.
