A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr Oluwole Oluyede, has set a target of securing 90 per cent of registered voters’ support in the state for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Oluyede, who was the PDP candidate in the June 20, 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, said the target was achievable through aggressive grassroots mobilisation.

The PDP chieftain, who is also the convener of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, said he had activated the political structure to begin mobilisation across the state following his return from a two-week holiday.

He called on members and supporters of the PDP, All Progressives Congress and other political tendencies who share his vision for a prosperous Ekiti and stronger Nigeria to join the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election.

Oluyede said Tinubu deserved a second term, arguing that Nigeria needed continuity to allow the reforms initiated by the administration to mature.

“I believe President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term. Nigeria cannot continue to start all over again every four years. If we have begun a process of reform, we must allow that process to mature and consolidate,” he said.

He expressed his readiness to work with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other stakeholders to achieve the 90 per cent target.

According to him, the mobilisation would cover the state’s 16 local government areas, 177 wards and communities, with his team taking the campaign directly to residents.

“Our target is 90 per cent of the voters registered by INEC in Ekiti State. It is a huge target, but it is achievable. We are going to work for it,” he said.

Oluyede said the campaign was not solely about winning the 2027 election but also about building political bridges among different groups in Ekiti and strengthening the relationship between the state and Federal Government.

He also dismissed suggestions that he had abandoned politics after taking a two-week break following the governorship election.

The PDP chieftain disclosed that he had held consultations with political actors from different parties, including a meeting with President Tinubu and discussions with Governor Oyebanji.

He said the engagements were aimed at promoting cooperation across party lines in the interest of Nigeria and Ekiti State.

Oluyede said his political structure, OPARHA, would lead the grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
