Victor Anichebe Leads Consortium in Talks to Buy English Club Bromley

Former Super Eagles and Everton striker Victor Anichebe is reportedly leading a wealthy consortium of African investors in advanced negotiations to acquire English League One club Bromley F.C.

The 38-year-old former Nigeria international, who transitioned into corporate entrepreneurship following his retirement from professional football in 2018, is spearheading the potential takeover through his investment firm, the Lumira Group. Discussions are reportedly ongoing with the South London club’s majority shareholder and owner, Robin Stanton-Gleaves, regarding the purchase of a controlling stake.

The prospective acquisition comes at a crucial period for Bromley as they navigate the rigorous athletic and financial demands of League One following a historic rise through the English football pyramid. With the club facing competitive challenges in the third tier, the incoming investment group intends to inject fresh capital to stabilize operations, strengthen the playing squad, and upgrade vital club infrastructure.

This venture marks Anichebe’s second major pursuit of football club ownership, following a previous, unsuccessful attempt to purchase non-league side Gateshead. During his decorated playing career, the forward scored 27 Premier League goals representing clubs like Everton, West Bromwich Albion, and Sunderland, alongside earning 11 caps and scoring once for the Nigerian senior national team. If finalized, the deal will see Anichebe join the growing cohort of former professional footballers transitioning into executive club ownership and administration.
