Transition in Leadership: Bolaji Agbede Takes Helm as Acting CEO of Access Holdings Plc

Access Holdings Plc has announced the appointment of Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, effective February 12, 2024, following the untimely passing of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, on February 9, 2024. The appointment is pending approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Prior to her recent appointment, Agbede served as the Company’s most senior founding Executive Director overseeing Business Support, bringing nearly thirty years of professional experience spanning banking and business consultancy services.

 

Agbede began her professional journey in 1992 at Guaranty Trust Bank, holding various roles within Commercial Banking and Operations until reaching the position of Manager in 2001. Subsequently, she assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at JKG Limited, a business consulting firm, in 2003.

 

Transitioning to Access Bank Plc in 2003 as an Assistant General Manager, Agbede managed the Bank’s portfolio of chemical trading companies. From 2010 to 2022, she served as the Bank’s Head of Group Human Resources.

 

In 2022, Agbede was appointed as the Company’s founding Executive Director of Business Support. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos (1990) and a Master’s of Business Administration Degree from Cranfield University, United Kingdom, in 2002. Additionally, she is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Management UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.

 

The appointment of Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer was announced by Access Holdings Plc’s Board of Directors on February 12, 2024, following the tragic passing of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Herbert Wigwe. This appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
