CCCC UNDER 15 YOUTH GAMES DESIGNED TO SELECT BEST ATHLETES

CCCC UNDER 15 YOUTH GAMES DESIGNED TO SELECT BEST ATHLETES: Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu,

has revealed that the objective of the forth-coming Enugu State

China Communications Construction Company ( CCCC),

Under 15 Youth Games , is designed to get the best athletes ,who will represent the State in the National Youth Games scheduled for Asaba, Delta State, from 10- 20 September,2024.

Commissioner Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, who made the revelation

during an interview, with Energy FM today, thanked Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah,

for his immense support to his Ministry, and for appointing him Commissioner in the State.

He explained that Enugu State Youth Games sponsored by CCCC, is billed

to hold from 20- 25 August, 2024 he noted that his mandate was to develop all sports .

According to him, “every person should have opportunity to shine,

the Youth Games is a mock preparation for the State to select the

best athletes that will represent the State’

the game

” We did not do well in the last National Youth Games, The Governor

was not happy with result, I had just assumed office as Commissioner then,

i want the Ministry to do transparent selection of athletes, who will

represent the State, we did not go with our best athletes in 2023,

we have to do better now’, he said.

On facilities, he noted, that the 260 wards in the State will soon have Smart Schools,

where sports facilities will be provided youths and sportsmen and women using Owo Smart School, as a model.

He stated that his Ministry is Collaborating with Enugu Sports Club and

College of the Immaculate Conception on the use of their facilities, as. well as upgrade the facilities at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

“We have done integrity test on the structure at the Stadium,

the structure is fantastic. One of the reasons we did not get approval

for CAF matches, CAF officials felt that upgrade of the Stadium is a huge project that will interfere with CAF matches’, he noted.
