SPORTS IS A CATALYST FOR SOCIO -ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.-EKWEREMADU:Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Barrister Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, has emphasized the importance of sports in the socio- economic development
of societies.
Speaking during a Press Conference, in his office, Commissioner Lloyd
Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, noted, that Enugu State government recognises
the socio-economic opportunities created by sports, which, he said, include, personal development, talent discovery and enables various local vendors to sale theiri wares especially during competitions.
He explained that the first edition of China Communications Construction
Company (CCCC), under 15 Youth Games epitomises everything the
State seek especially private sector involvement in sports.
” The CCCC Youth Games symbolises the benchmark of
Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s manifesto, his goals
to bring back and revive sports in the State’
“It epitomises every thing the State seek, especially, in private
sector involvement in sports.’
” We are proud of what we are achieving ,it epitomises every thing
we seek to gain’
He pointed out that the partnership will be sustainable and
culminate in training our Coaches on the rules and technics of the game.
He assured that the screening will help the state do well in the forthcoming NationalYouth Games scheduled for Asaba, Delta State, from 10th- 20th September 2024.

On inadequate sports facilities, he said, ” We met inadequate sports facilities, it informed our Sports Development programme and our objective to galvanise the private sector involvement. Recently the State Executive Council approved the remodelling of 5 parks
Ngwo, Nnaji, Ejindu and two other parks in Enugu, as venus for football, basketball and volleyball ‘
