Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has expressed concerns about threats made against him following remarks from Felix Morka, the national spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC). On January 5, Morka allegedly stated that Obi had “crossed the line” on multiple occasions and should “manage” the consequences.
In response, Obi shared a statement on X, revealing that his New Year message had resulted in threats against his life, family, and associates. He questioned whether he had actually crossed any lines, inviting others to identify where he might have done so. Despite these threats, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out against the country’s shift toward undemocratic practices, insisting that he would not be silenced.
He condemned the rising authoritarianism in the nation, noting the increasing suppression of free speech. Obi called for a future where citizens can live in a more open and democratic society, free from such intimidation.
