BREAKING: Senator John Azuta-Mbata Elected President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide

Senator John Azuta-Mbata has been elected as the new President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization.

Azuta-Mbata, a former Senator who represented Rivers East in the National Assembly, emerged as President-General during the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly meeting held on Friday at the Old Government Lodge in Enugu, the Enugu State capital. He succeeds Nze Ozichukwu Fidelis Chukwu, who had been appointed to complete the tenure following the passing of the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Hailing from Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, Azuta-Mbata was unanimously elected through consensus. The election was attended by the Governors of Enugu, Imo, and Anambra States, showcasing strong regional support for his leadership.

Additionally, Prince Okey Nwadinobi from Abia State was elected as the National Deputy President, while Chief Emeka Sibeidu from Anambra State will serve as the new Secretary-General of the organization.

The election marks a new phase for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide as it continues its efforts to promote unity, cultural preservation, and advocacy for the interests of the Igbo people across Nigeria and beyond.
