APC Urges Parents to Monitor Children’s Activities Ahead of Planned Protest: The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a warning to parents to

closely monitor their children’s activities to prevent them from being

recruited for violent purposes ahead of the planned nationwide protest.

This comes after the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun,

threatened to make arrests if the protest turns violent. The protest, scheduled

for August 1-10, aims to address the country’s economic hardship and soaring cost of living.

At a press conference, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru appealed

to protesters to shelve their plans and trust the Federal Government to address the economic challenges. He also urged parents to ensure their children are not caught on the wrong side of the law.

the challenge

Basiru acknowledged the economic challenges faced by the government since

2023 but expressed confidence in President’s efforts to implement policies and programs to bring relief to citizens. He noted that some issues raised by protesters are political or constitutional, requiring amendment of the constitution, which is ongoing at the National Assembly.

The APC has called an emergency meeting of state chairmen to discuss the protest and the state of the nation. While the meeting’s primary focus is not solely on the protest, it aims to address the underlying issues and find solutions.

The APC’s appeal and warning come as the planned protest continues to generate tension and mixed reactions from Nigerians. The party’s efforts to address the economic challenges and prevent violence during the protest are crucial in maintaining peace and stability in the country.
