A recent report has indicated that a serving Nigerian Army Major (name withheld) has committed suicide on Monday by shooting himself in the head at the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) gate.

According to the report, the said Major was just returned from exercise with cadets at the new site of the NDA that evening.

The reason for the suicide is still unknown, though many have pointed to high levels of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among service personnel in Nigeria in recent times.

The Public Relations Officer of NDA, Major Bashir Jajira, when contacted, told journalist that he was not aware of any NDA personnel committing suicide.
