Bruce Fein, the United States Council and Spokesman to the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has on Wednesday asked a vital question as to whether the United States will treat the Buhari-led Nigerian government like Iran as state sponsor of terrorism for pardoning Boko Haram members with the claim that the terrorists have repented.
In the words of Mr. Fein who was a top Justice Department official under former US President Ronald Reagan’s administration,
“Nigeria pardons members of Boko Haram as miraculously rehabilitated although listed by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO). Nigeria prosecutes Nnamdi Kanu for membership in IPOB lacking FTO listing. Will U.S. treat Nigeria like Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism?”
Bruce Fein had on Thursday, April 7th, filed a criminal complaint against Nigerian Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and a Federal High Court Judge, Binta Nyako, at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity which include kidnapping, torture, extraordinary rendition and indefinite arbitrary detention of the leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Fein’s observations and question are weighty for they present indisputable facts. However, if and how the Buhari-led Nigeria government will react to the given facts, only time will tell.
