Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away.
The news of his death was shared by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, via a post on the social media platform X.
In the announcement, Ahmad stated: ”The family of the former president has confirmed the passing of Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, earlier today at a clinic in London. May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, had previously led the nation as a military ruler between 1983 and 1985. He was widely recognized for his strong anti-corruption policies and his efforts to improve economic stability during his tenure.
The family is expected to release details of the funeral arrangements in line with Islamic traditions.
