The founding National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has returned to the party he left some years ago due to “irreconcilable differences”, with a pledge to work with the party’s leadership to reconcile all aggrieved members and rebuild the party.
Chief Okorie who was welcomed back to the party in Enugu on Wednesday by the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Edozie Njoku, along with members of the National Working Committee stated that was “a special day in the history of Igboland and Nigeria and we are back to the party to rebuild and restructure our party.”
Chief Okorie formed the United Progressives Party(UPP) shortly after leaving APGA. He later defected from UPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He used the occasion of his return to stress that APGA is the only political party in the country that was established on the principles of true federalism, inclusion, and devolution of power.
In his words:
“New dawn has beckoned for APGA. I am happy to come back home, APGA is our own and we must make sure it continues to wax stronger always.
“We must bring back all our aggrieved members and restore peace to our great party.
“We must also work with all APGA leaders including Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo to make sure they succeed in their quest of developing our dreary country…
“We did not just run away as we tried our best to restore peace and save the party when the trouble started but all efforts were frustrated.
“I want to assure you that all APGA candidates will be helped to win the election.”
