Ben Nwoye has been formally confirmed as the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress at the party’s ongoing elective convention, marking a significant milestone in his political career.

The announcement, made during the convention proceedings, puts to rest earlier speculations surrounding the position, as Nwoye’s emergence had already been widely anticipated following strong indications of a consensus agreement among party stakeholders in his favour. His unveiling signals the culmination of internal consultations and negotiations that paved the way for his acceptance as the preferred choice for the role.
Nwoye, who previously served as Chairman and later as Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC in Enugu State, brings with him a wealth of experience in party administration and leadership. His new role places him among the top figures responsible for guiding the affairs of the ruling party at the national level.
He takes over from Emma Eneukwu, a seasoned party figure who has held a place in the APC’s national leadership for over 13 years, contributing significantly to its development and stability.
Alongside other newly elected members of the National Working Committee, Nwoye is expected to be sworn in shortly, officially assuming the responsibilities attached to his office. His emergence also confirms earlier reports that he had been adopted as the party’s consensus candidate, reinforcing the influence of internal party agreements in shaping leadership outcomes.
