Empowering the Future: The Completion of Digital Skills Nigeria (DSN) Training 2.0

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the Digital Skills Nigeria (DSN) Training 2.0, a groundbreaking initiative powered by the Enugu SME Agency, in collaboration with FCDO and Tech4Dev. This transformative program exemplifies our unwavering commitment to building a digitally proficient and efficient Enugu State Civil Service.

Over an intensive two-week period, more than 1,000 civil servants from all 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State participated in this hands-on training. They gained practical knowledge in essential tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other digital platforms—skills that are now indispensable for boosting workplace productivity and driving public sector innovation.

Globally, fewer than 5% of civil servants possess advanced digital skills, compared to an industry benchmark of 8-12%, creating a significant efficiency gap in governance. In response, *His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah* has implemented a forward-thinking policy: digital literacy certification is now a mandatory criterion for yearly promotions within the Enugu State Civil Service. This bold step ensures that our workforce remains equipped to meet the demands of modern governance and drive economic growth.

The DSN Training 2.0, supported by FCDO and Tech4Dev, is a testament to Enugu State’s dedication to fostering capacity building and innovation. It positions the state as a leader in public sector transformation, setting a benchmark for digital literacy and governance excellence in Nigeria.

This training is more than a program; it is a movement toward equipping our civil servants with the tools to deliver exceptional governance. By prioritizing digital skills, we are building a workforce capable of driving innovation and economic growth for Enugu State.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our 15 expert tutors, as well as to the Special Assistant on MSMEs and Digital Economy and the entire Enugu SME Team, whose hard work and dedication made this initiative a resounding success.

Tomorrow is here, and Enugu State’s civil servants are ready to lead the charge toward a brighter, more efficient future. Together, we are shaping a legacy of innovation and progress.

Signed:

*Arinze Chilo-Offiah* Special Adviser to the Governor on MSMEs and Digital Economy
