Enugu APC Delegates Threaten Unrest Over Unpaid National Convention Stipends

Delegates in Enugu State have raised alarm over unpaid stipends from the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, threatening to spark internal unrest if not addressed promptly.

An anonymous delegate expressed frustration at the state chapter’s silence and inaction, noting that while delegates from other states have received their allowances, those from Enugu remain unpaid. “The delegates are unhappy and are asking questions indirectly to avoid trouble,” the source said.

The delegate added that the delay is causing growing dissatisfaction within party ranks, as members who spent money and risked personal safety to attend the convention await their entitlements nearly two weeks after the event. Although figures vary across states, the source hinted that delegates in Ebonyi received about $800, while Enugu delegates have yet to be compensated due to bureaucratic delays.

“This delay is undermining efforts to stabilise the party in the South-East and could weaken our position internally,” the delegate warned.

The situation comes as the APC works to strengthen its influence in the South-East, a region historically challenging for the party, highlighting that unresolved grievances like this could threaten cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
