Herders’ Gang-Rape of 13-Year-Old Girl Murder of Brave Farmer Sparks Outrage:  A devastating attack has left a community in Enugu State, Nigeria,

traumatized after suspected herders gang-raped a 13-year-old girl and

killed a farmer, Emma Nnadi, who attempted to rescue her. The incident

occurred at Ugwu-Uvuru, a farm settlement in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, leaving the community in a state of shock and grief.

The young victim, a primary school leaver, was working on her family’s farm

when she was brutally raped by two armed herders. Despite the bravery of Emma Nnadi,

who tried to intervene and protect the girl, he was shot and killed by the herders.

The attackers showed no remorse, continuing to rape the girl even after Emma’s death.

Community leader Agu Chineme confirmed the incident, praising Emma’s heroism

and vowing that his legacy will fuel the quest for peace, justice, and security in Aku.

Chineme described the community as traumatized, with the young victim bearing

physical and emotional scars from the horrific attack.

The incident highlights the ongoing violence and insecurity faced by farming communities

in the region, who have been repeatedly attacked by suspected herders. The attack has

sparked outrage and calls for justice, with many demanding greater protection for

farmers and their families.

The Enugu State Government has condemned the attack, promising to investigate

and bring the perpetrators to justice. However, the community remains skeptical, citing previous incidents where attackers were not held accountable.
