Former Federal Lawmaker and Omosede Igbinedion Resigns from PDP: Omosede Igbinedion, a former member of the House of Representatives, has resigned from the

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) citing lack of equity and fairness within the party.

In a letter dated August 11, 2024, addressed to the PDP Chairman in

Okada West Ward 1, Omosede expressed her disappointment with

the party’s conduct during the ward and local government delegates elections for the primary.

The daughter of Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom,

stated that the PDP had marginalized long-standing party members,

including herself, and lacked fairness and justice. She thanked the party

for the opportunity to serve as a member of the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019 but emphasized that her commitment to the people of Ovia superseded her personal interest.

Omosede’s resignation comes ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State,

where she had hoped to play a role. However, with no indigenous PDP member on the gubernatorial ballot, she questioned the party’s priorities. Although

she has not announced her next move, rumors suggest she may join the

All Progressives Congress (APC) and potentially be received at the Edo South Senatorial governorship campaign rally scheduled for today.

Omosede’s departure from the PDP highlights the ongoing challenges

within the party, including issues of equity, fairness, and justice.

Her resignation may have implications for the upcoming governorship election, as she was a prominent figure in the party. Her next move will be closely watched,
