Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday went online to condemn the recent killings by terrorists in Plateau State and to suggest measures to prevent further attacks.
Using one of his social media platforms, the former VP, who is a front runner for the office of President in 2023 under PDP, stated as follows:
“This attack exposes the inadequacy of the current security architecture. But even more importantly, it reveals a far deeper malaise: the intolerance being bred by divisions in our country exacerbates this culture of violence. We need to take urgent steps to stem this carnage.
“To this end, I recommend a community-based Peace Initiative. It involves the empaneling of a committee of community leaders, clergy, security agents and well-meaning stakeholders to dialogue and find ways of nipping the crisis in the bud before it escalates.
“My deepest condolences to the families who may have lost a dear one and the people and government of Plateau State.”
