FOSAD condoles families affected by recent stampede incidents in Abuja, Anambra & Ibadan

The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors (FOSAD) sympathizes with families who lost their loved ones in the recent tragic incidents in Abuja, Anambra, and Ibadan.

The stampede incidents that occurred during the distribution of rice palliatives have left an indelible mark on the lives of many Nigerians. FOSAD mourns the loss of innocent lives and prays for the speedy recovery of those injured.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the injuries sustained during these incidents.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, and we urge the authorities to take immediate action to prevent such tragedies in the future.

FOSAD calls on the government and philanthropic individuals to put in place effective crowd control measures during the distribution of palliatives. This includes:

1. Proper planning and coordination

2. Adequate security personnel

3. Clear communication and signage

4. Designated distribution points

5. Use of the traditional institutions eg Ndị Eze, Village Heads, Kindred Heads, Family Heads, Youth Leaders, ọgbakọ ụmụnwanyị etc.

We must learn from these tragic incidents and take proactive steps to prevent them from happening again.

“The distribution of palliatives should be a lifeline for those in need, not a death trap.”

FOSAD remains committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of Nigerians, particularly the vulnerable and marginalized.
