Fubara Approves Cabinet Reshuffle, Appoints Christopher Green as Rivers Attorney General

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sanctioned a slight reshuffling of his cabinet with the redeployment of Barrister Christopher Green as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Before the adjustment, Barrister Green served as the Commissioner for Sports. With the new appointment, he will now oversee the Ministry of Justice, a key government institution charged with providing legal counsel to the state, prosecuting criminal matters, and defending government policies and actions in court.

The development was announced in an official statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr. Honour Sirawoo, who noted that the governor’s decision takes immediate effect.

Despite his new role, Barrister Green will, for the time being, retain supervisory responsibility over the Ministry of Sports. This interim arrangement will remain in place until a substantive commissioner is appointed to assume full leadership of the ministry.

According to the statement, the dual role is aimed at preventing administrative gaps and ensuring the smooth continuation of ongoing sports development initiatives across Rivers State.

Sources within government disclosed that the reshuffle received approval during the final State Executive Council meeting of 2025. The move reflects Governor Fubara’s commitment to strengthening governance frameworks and optimally deploying experienced personnel to positions where their skills and expertise can best serve the interests of the state.
