Governor Ugwuanyi loses to Okey Ezea of the Labour Party: Mr. Okey Ezea of the Labour Party has been declared winner of the Senatorial election
held in Enugu North Senatorial zone on Saturday.
Ezea defeated Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The result of the election was announced by the returning officer,
Prof. Chukwuemeka Ubaka, early Monday morning.
According to the returning officer, Okey Ezea polled 104, 492 votes while Ugwuanyi of the PDP garnered 46, 948 votes, the APC candidate, Eze Simon came third with 6,816 votes.
The Enugu State Labour Party has also won seven House of Representatives seats defeating the Peoples Democratic Party.

Other Federal Constituencies won by Labour Party include Enugu East/Isi-Uzo, where Prof.
Paul Nnamchi defeated incumbent Reps member, Cornelius Nnaji.
It is the same in Enugu North/Enugu South. Chimaobi Atu of LP defeated PDP Reps member, Offor Chukwuegbo.
In other results, the LP also won Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Reps seat.
Nwodo Chijioke of LP defeated the incumbent lawmaker, Mr. Martins Oke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
For Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, Mr. Dennis Agbo of the LP was also declared the winner.
Agbo, who was in the Green Chamber between 2015 and 2019 polled 28870 votes to
defeat the serving PDP Reps member, Atigwe Simon who got 14229 votes.
Aninri/Awgu/Oji River, as well as Udi/Ezeagu also went to LP. Festus Uzor, a former
Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Governor, lost the election.

The PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party has been in power in Enugu state for the past 24 years
and has had no close opposition.
This feat by the Labour Party has never been achieved by any other political party in the region.
In what is considered a political tsunami, the big question is; will the PDP survive this?
