Guild of Public Affairs Analysts Submits Tour Findings at Press Conference, Applauds Gov. Mbah’s Development Strides

The Guild of Public Affairs Analysts of Nigeria, Enugu State Chapter, has commended Governor Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his far-reaching infrastructural and human capital development initiatives aimed at repositioning Enugu State’s economy and social landscape. The commendation was made during a press conference held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, where the Guild of Public Affairs Analysts formally presented the outcomes of its three-day facility tour of key projects executed by the Mbah administration. The tour, conducted between June 16 and 18, 2025, was designed to positively critique, assess, and offer policy recommendations to the government while addressing pertinent public concerns.

Leading the briefing, Chairman of the Guild, Dr. Ambrose Igboke, explained that the inspection covered several major infrastructural sites and public service establishments across the state. Among the highlights was the visit to the Government Technical College (GTC), Enugu, which has been transformed into a model Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution. The facility now boasts modern workshops and smart classrooms tailored to meet the demand for skilled manpower in various trades and technical disciplines. Similarly, the team toured the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane, where they observed significant upgrades to infrastructure, the construction of specialized centres, and ongoing staff development programmes aimed at elevating the hospital to international standards.

The Guild’s delegation also proceeded to the Nortra Tractor Hiring and Assemblage Centre ; an agricultural intervention designed to support the establishment of farm estates, enhance mechanized farming, and improve food production in the state. Another major highlight was the Holy Ghost Transport Terminal, a state-of-the-art facility built to ease transportation within and outside the state. The terminal, which features commuter accommodation spaces, shop spaces, a ticketing section, and enhanced security infrastructure, was lauded for providing a safer, more efficient, and commuter-friendly environment.

Security infrastructure received particular attention during the tour, with the Guild visiting the Enugu State Command and Control Centre. The facility is equipped with sophisticated surveillance systems capable of capturing minute details of people and objects across the state to improve its overall security status. The delegation praised the government’s efforts in reclaiming and transforming the once-notorious Akpawfu axis formerly a den of kidnappers and criminals into a thriving mechanized farm estate. The site now features lined maize fields, cocoa, cashew, and palm plantations, along with storage facilities, contributing significantly to the state’s food sufficiency and agricultural export potential.

The tour also took the Guild to the International Conference Centre, now positioning Enugu as a key business destination with the capacity to host high-profile national events, including the forthcoming Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in August 2025. Other strategic facilities inspected included the Presidential Hotel; the Enugu State Asphalt Plant, responsible for producing road construction materials for ongoing road projects; and the New Enugu City project, a visionary urban expansion initiative integrating residential, commercial, recreational, and industrial spaces with reliable electricity supply. The inspection concluded with a visit to Niger Gas Company, an important industrial and energy asset in the state’s economic framework.

Addressing the members and journalists, Dr. Igboke expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) for its support in facilitating the tour and stressed the need for government ministries and agencies to amplify public awareness of these achievements. He submitted that the infrastructural and human capital projects witnessed during the tour are already yielding evidence-based outcomes, creating thousands of jobs, increasing the state’s GDP, and strengthening food security and public safety through the command and control surveillance network. The chairman assured that Governor Mbah’s administration is laying a sustainable foundation for the continuity of these legacies beyond his tenure, with state agencies and the workforce aligning closely with the governor’s transformative vision for a modern, secure, and prosperous Enugu State
