How Anambra indigenes voted as Soludo Emerges Victorious in Fiercely Contested Anambra Governorship Election After Intense Battle Across 21 LGAs ‎

‎The much-anticipated Anambra State governorship election has finally concluded, marking the end of an intense and fiercely contested political battle that gripped the state for weeks. From the bustling streets of Onitsha to the rural communities of Aguata and Nnewi, the people of Anambra trooped out in large numbers to make their voices heard, determined to decide the state’s political future through the ballot box.

‎At the end of a long, tension-filled race, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, emerged triumphant, claiming a resounding victory that reaffirmed his political dominance in the state. The returning officer for the election, Professor Edoba Omorege, who also serves as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, declared Soludo the winner after painstaking collation of results from the 21 local government areas of the state at the INEC headquarters in Awka.

‎According to the official figures, Soludo’s performance was nothing short of emphatic. He amassed a commanding total of 422,664 votes, outpacing his closest contender, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progresives Congress (APC), who managed 99,445 votes despite a spirited campaign across several strongholds. The Labour Party’s George Moghalu, who was widely regarded as a rising force in the race, secured 10,576 votes, coming in third after putting up a valiant effort that earned him respect from supporters and observers alike.

‎The election also saw several other candidates giving their all in the political showdown. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate gathered 8,208 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), once a formidable player in Anambra politics, could only muster 1,401 votes, a sign of the shifting political landscape in the state. The Young Progressives Party (YPP), which made a noticeable push during the campaigns, scored 37,753 votes, demonstrating that its youthful energy resonated with portions of the electorate. Meanwhile, the African Action Congress (AAC) and the Action Alliance (AA) recorded 292 and 1,145 votes respectively, despite their limited grassroots structures.

‎The election, described by many as one of the most competitive in Anambra’s recent history, was marked by heated campaigns, passionate supporters, and moments of political drama that kept the state on edge. Each candidate fought hard to win the trust of voters, traversing every corner of the state, unveiling bold promises, and appealing to the people’s aspirations for a more prosperous Anambra.

‎But in the end, it was Soludo’s combination of political experience, grassroots appeal, and strategic campaign machinery that carried the day, sealing his victory as the clear choice of the people. The final declaration brought jubilation among APGA loyalists, while rival parties pledged to regroup, reflecting on what many described as a battle well fought but decisively won.
