The kidnapped but recently released Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence Samuel Uche, during an appearance on Channels TV, revealed how the herdsmen that abducted him and many others managed to receive and move the N100 million ransom payments to them to secure his release.
The Prelate revealed that the kidnappers wanted to stab him when he attempted to negotiate a N10 million ransom for his release from them.
He said:
“The gang leader instructed that the N100 million ransom should be divided into five bags (N20 million each). I asked the gang leader how they planned to move the ransom, and he asked me not to worry. He told me that they would invite motorcycle riders and that a truck would be on standby. The money would be put in the truck.
“However, those who brought the ransom confirmed this. They said the kidnappers were monitoring to see if those who came to pay the N100 million were accompanied by the police. They said the kidnappers asked them to move in different directions before they were asked to stop. A truck without a number plate emerged, and the kidnappers moved the bags of money into the truck. They were asked to leave after paying the ransom.”
