Renowned Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu, has tragically passed away at the age of 62. His demise occurred on Saturday, March 2, 2024, following a sudden cardiac arrest. Mr. Ibu was admitted to a Lagos-based hospital after experiencing a relapse about a week prior.
According to a close associate of the family, the beloved actor breathed his last on Saturday afternoon after being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Evercare Hospital in Lekki. Emeka Rollas, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, confirmed the heartbreaking news, expressing condolences to the late actor’s family and the entire Nollywood community.
Mr. Ibu’s passing came shortly after the death of another actor, Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri, who was laid to rest in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State.
