Ohanaeze Youth Council Slams Governor Uzodimma
Ohanaeze Youth Council Slams Governor Uzodimma: The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC),
the apex socio-cultural Igbo youth organization, has labeled Governor Hope Uzodimma of
Imo State as a prodigal governor. Speaking to reporters in Owerri on Monday, May 13, 2024,
the national president of the OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka, criticized Uzodimma’s
participation in the 52nd convocation lecture of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, on May 7, 2024, as a wasteful event that squandered state funds.
Comrade Igboayaka characterized Uzodimma’s mobilization of over 2,000 individuals from Imo State
to Nsukka to support him as a display of extravagance and a misuse of state resources, all in pursuit of
an undeserved honorary doctorate award. He argued that these funds could have been better utilized
for meaningful projects in the state or as relief for the significant portion of Imo State’s population currently grappling with hunger.
Ohanaeze Youth Council Slams Governor Uzodimma: the vice chancellor of UNN
Furthermore, Comrade Igboayaka criticized the decision of Professor Charles Arinze Igwe, the
Vice Chancellor of UNN, to confer the prestigious Honorary Doctorate degree upon Uzodimma,
whose academic credentials are still under scrutiny and subject to legal disputes at the ongoing gubernatorial tribunal.
He called on the National University Commission (NUC) to launch an investigation into Professor
Igwe’s decision to grant Uzodimma the honorary doctorate award, emphasizing that Uzodimma lacks
the academic qualifications and moral character deserving of such recognition.
Comrade Igboayaka also condemned Uzodimma’s call to root out corrupt lecturers at the University of Nigeria,
Nsukka, labeling it as hypocritical coming from a political leader who has allegedly misappropriated and embezzled local government funds throughout his tenure. He argued that Uzodimma’s own record of alleged corruption disqualifies him from demanding accountability from others.
the conclution
In conclusion, Comrade Igboayaka characterized Governor Hope Uzodimma as a symbol of corruption among political leaders in the Southeast, lacking the moral authority to demand integrity from others while allegedly engaging in corrupt practices himself. He urged Uzodimma to emulate the selfless service and quality leadership demonstrated by counterparts in the Western world.
