PDP Crisis Not Internal – Prof. Chiwuike Uba Alleges External Sabotage

—— Says crisis is being fueled by powerful external forces determined to destabilize the opposition party ahead of future political contests.

A Public Affairs Analyst and Member, Guild of Public Affairs Analysts of Nigeria, Enugu State Chapter, Prof. Chiwuike Uba, made this known while speaking on a topic “ The State Of The Nation,” on Freedom Square, a programme on Solid FM, 100.9, anchored by Uchenna Cyril Anioke.

Prof. Uba dismissed claims that the turmoil was a result of internal disunity. He argued that the pattern of controversies and coordinated tensions pointed strongly to external interference targeted at weakening the PDP’s national structure.

According to him, “PDP is not dying a natural death , there is external forces that are driving its disintegration. That smells doom to the democracy of Nigeria. We need opposition to put the ruling party in check and make them work . We have seen what is happening in some states where their governors decamped to ruling party. The level of activities and works that was initially going in those states has reduced. But when they were in opposition,we saw that things were happening but now that they have moved , it has become ukochukwu and the same people. So it won’t be nice, we kill opposition in Nigeria for the purposes of glory. I will encourage those , the external forces that are working to ensure the demise of PDP and other opposition parties to stay action.”

He stated that the timing and nature of the crisis suggest a deliberate strategy by political actors outside the party who are uncomfortable with the PDP’s recent reorganization efforts and growing influence across several states.

Prof. Uba urged party leaders to remain vigilant and avoid falling into traps set by those who do not wish the PDP well. He emphasized the need for unity, strategic communication, and internal reforms to safeguard the party from what he described as “political sabotage masquerading as internal conflict.”

He therefore appealed to members to focus on rebuilding trust, strengthening grassroots mobilization, and preparing for upcoming elections, noting that only a united PDP can resist external manipulations and reclaim its position as a leading political force in Nigeria.
