Peter Obi Debunks Arrest Rumours, Urges Nigerians to Focus on National Issues

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed recent rumours of his alleged arrest, calling them baseless and misleading. In a statement shared on social media Wednesday evening, Obi clarified that he was at his residence in Onitsha and urged the public to disregard the false claims.

The arrest rumours emerged amid a controversy involving Felix Morka, a notable figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had earlier accused Obi of exaggerating claims about receiving death threats following his critical New Year’s message. Obi responded by urging Nigerians to focus on pressing national issues rather than being distracted by misinformation.

Reflecting on similar incidents, Obi recalled a false 2024 report accusing him of being detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) during a visit to Rwanda. He described such fabrications as deliberate attempts to divert public attention from more critical matters facing the country.

Obi reaffirmed his dedication to addressing issues of national importance and called on Nigerians to remain focused on the pursuit of progress and good governance. He emphasized the need to rise above distractions and prioritize meaningful discussions about the country’s future.

The arrest allegations follow a heated exchange between Obi and Morka, who had earlier criticized the Labour Party leader, accusing him of crossing boundaries. Despite the ongoing controversy, Obi has maintained his focus on advocating for the welfare and development of Nigeria, urging his supporters to stay resolute in their commitment to positive change.
