——The Commissioner of police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa reaffirmed the commands resolve to protect lives and property.
The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities across the state, arresting three male suspects and recovering firearms, ammunition, and suspected hard drugs in coordinated operations.
According to police sources, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad acted on credible intelligence on January 19, 2026, storming Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area, where they arrested Mba Emmanuel, popularly known as Indomie aged 31, and Onukwube Nnam, alias Nwa Amodu aged 35.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, a notorious cult group operating in the area. Police further revealed that Mba Emmanuel was identified as the group’s leader and executioner as of December 2025.
Items recovered from the suspects included a pump action gun, a locally fabricated Beretta style pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large wrap of suspected cannabis, an HP laptop, and a motorcycle.
In a separate but related operation on January 31, 2026, police operatives raided criminal hideouts along the Agbani axis, arresting eight suspects. After screening, one of them, Ezeani Monday aged 32 was found in possession of suspected cannabis and 39 pellets of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as Mkpuru-mmiri. The remaining suspects were released after preliminary investigations cleared them of involvement.
Reacting to the successful operations, the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to safeguard lives and property across the state.
He issued a stern warning to individuals involved in cultism, armed robbery, and illicit drug trafficking, urging them to abandon criminal activities or face the full force of the law.
The Police Command assured residents that intelligence-driven operations would continue as part of sustained efforts to rid Enugu State of criminal elements.
