President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Saturday, January 11, to take part in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025), according to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information & Strategy. The invitation to attend the summit was extended by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates. The event is scheduled to be held in the emirate from January 12 to 18.
ADSW 2025 aims to gather global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and promote socioeconomic advancement. The summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,” will provide a platform for policymakers, business leaders, and representatives from civil society to explore strategies for rapidly transitioning to a sustainable economy and fostering a new era of widespread prosperity.
For over 15 years, ADSW has demonstrated the strength of collaborative efforts, serving as an international venue for multi-stakeholder cooperation to tackle global challenges and drive growth. The event has facilitated the creation of significant agreements and strategic partnerships among governments, industry leaders, and clean energy innovators worldwide, fostering impactful alliances and advancing the global sustainability agenda.
During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to highlight his administration’s reforms, particularly those related to energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development. Additionally, the Nigerian leader and his delegation will engage with leaders from the emirate to discuss mutual interests and issues affecting both nations.
Accompanying President Tinubu will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, along with other senior government officials. After participating in ADSW 2025, President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Nigeria on Thursday, January 16.
This participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development and its engagement with international partners to address pressing environmental and economic challenges. The collaboration at ADSW 2025 is expected to enhance Nigeria’s efforts in implementing sustainable practices and fostering economic growth through strategic international partnerships.
