Pro-Peter Obi Group Seeks Merger with Coalition to Form New Political Party, ADA

A political support group aligned with Peter Obi, known as the People’s Organic Movement (POM), has officially expressed interest in joining the coalition led by Dr. Umar Ardo, which is working toward the establishment of a new political platform called the All Democratic Alliance (ADA). In a formal letter dated June 22, 2025, and signed by POM’s National Chairman, Citizen Eliashib Ime-James, the organization stated that it seeks to become part of the coalition due to its alignment with the coalition’s core values, vision, and developmental aspirations for Nigeria.

The letter, addressed to Dr. Ardo, highlighted the group’s ongoing commitment to progressive principles and its dedication to championing policies aimed at improving the welfare of the Nigerian people. POM emphasized its grassroots structure and diverse membership base, which it described as unified by a shared pursuit of social justice, economic development, and institutional reforms driven by sustainable practices and good governance.

While POM identifies itself as a pro-Peter Obi group, it remains unclear how directly the movement is connected to the former Labour Party presidential candidate, as the umbrella body for Obi’s support networks, the Obidient Movement, has yet to issue an official response on the matter.

POM’s letter noted that it is particularly enthusiastic about the coalition’s objective to birth a new political party. It expressed optimism that the proposed party could provide a credible alternative to the existing political establishment and become a vehicle for transformative governance in Nigeria.

Furthermore, the group requested a meeting with Dr. Ardo and his leadership team to further discuss terms of collaboration and the integration process. POM believes that through shared resources, vision, and public engagement, the coalition could foster a more inclusive and effective political movement capable of fulfilling the hopes of the Nigerian populace.
