Prof Bart Nnaji on Sunday the 3rd of April 2022 has joined the host of other candidates to contest for the Enugu 2023 governorship election.
Earlier, a group of social media warriors has used their platforms to somehow persuade prof. Nnaji to join the race. In this subtle persuasion, they also enumerated the need to have a person like prof. Barth Nnaji on the lion building.
Today at Umuode his country home, The former minister was adorned with the PDP’s N21million interest and nomination forms by the coalition of friends led by the former Enugu governorship aspirant, Ekene Uzodinma.
According to Mr Uzodinma,
“there’s no meaningful development without peace and the responsibility of building Enugu to a greater cannot be given to a politician. Prof. Is the most qualified person for this position and with him peace will be maintained in Enugu State.”
The former minister responded that he is encouraged by the number of persons and groups urging him to run. He thanked the groups for their kind gesture and expressed his interest to contest the position.
in his words,
”it is difficult for someone to be presented with this challenge, yes it is a challenge, a challenge to serve the people and the person says No I will not serve. Especially when the people to be served have gone to get the instrument needed to undertake the risk. I hereby accept! I accept to serve the good people of Enugu State”
He however observed that insecurity is the biggest issue confronting Enugu and the Southeast at this moment.
This, he said, poses a challenge to maintaining the peace and development in Enugu State. If given the opportunity to rule, he outlined his priorities as peace, industrialisation and investment drive to accelerate development.
The prof. stated the need to facilitate establishment of industries to solve the challenges of youth unemployment.
He also said he will employ his worldwide contacts to promote foreign direct investments into Enugu.
The former minister also appreciated both the past and current governors that have ruled the state and promised continuity and an accelerated tempo of development efforts if chosen to lead.
Nnaji, the Nkanu East born former minister of power also said that despite his interest to be in the race that he is willing to bow to the Governor’s will and that it all boils down to the decision of the current governor Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi to decide who will succeed him.
