Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso Reaffirms Commitment to NNPP, Open to Future Political Alliances Ahead of 2027 Elections

As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, former presidential candidate and political leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed speculations about leaving his party, affirming his loyalty while also expressing openness to future political discussions and alliances. Speaking in Abuja during the 9th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the NNPP, Kwankwaso addressed rumors suggesting that he might defect to another political platform or align with other political figures.

Kwankwaso clarified that the NEC meeting was not convened to announce any decision regarding his political future or party allegiance. Instead, he reiterated his satisfaction and confidence in the NNPP, emphasizing that he and other members of the party remain committed and are not in a rush to make any hasty political moves. “We are not in a hurry. NNPP is not in a hurry,” he stated, highlighting the party’s strategy to build a solid foundation and offer credible leadership to Nigeria when the time is right.

The former Kano State governor also stressed the importance of political flexibility and inclusivity, stating that while the NNPP is open to dialogue with other political actors, any form of negotiation or alliance will be handled collectively, involving the full party leadership and membership. He advocated for fairness, transparency, and strong party identity, noting that more Nigerians are increasingly joining the NNPP due to its growing appeal and progressive stance.

Earlier in the meeting, NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, praised the party’s growth and influence in Nigeria’s political landscape. He described the NNPP as “the beautiful bride” of Nigerian democracy and reaffirmed that the party plans to present Kwankwaso once again as its presidential candidate in 2027, citing his leadership and vision as key assets.
