The leader of a deadly Fulani terrorist gang, aka bandits, who have been terrorizing the Middle-belt states of Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba, Leggi Jibrin, has been arrested by troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), a joint military/security operation.
Leggi Jibrin was arrested after a long gun battle with troops of OPWS which took place between Wednesday and Thursday at Agam/Gidan Bawa village in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
In the said operation, the OPWS led by the Force Commander, Major General Kevin Aligbe, rescued five victims at Ugya in Toto LGA of the state.
A report issued on the military operation stated as follows:
“Troops of OPWS deployed to Ugya in Toto LGA of NasarawaState received credible intel and responded swiftly to a distress call of a kidnap incident at Zaure forest.
“On arrival at the forest, our troops saw three trucks loaded with illegal timber that were abandoned in the forest. Accordingly the troops combed the forest, stumbled on the kidnappers camp and rescued five of their victims.
“The rescued victims includes Abdulkafar Nuhu, AdamuDagana, Emmanuel Osasede, Jacob Amaku and DanladiAmaku.”
