“The Hard Truth APC Keeps Ignoring in Enugu”

Few days ago, I saw a video of where one of my destiny helpers and the Deputy National Chairman South of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Emma Eneukwu, together with some leaders of the party in the state, were brainwashing some of their supporters that APC is ready to take over the leadership of the state from Barr Peter Ndubisi Mbah.

I was not just surprised with the lies he was telling them but shocked at the confidence with which he told the lies and the joy with which the “finished” supporters used to receive and celebrate them.

What keeps amusing me is the consistency of these lies and the unending confidence with which they do it.

First was the introduction of a former political general without troops under the signature of “Ebe Ana Eje” who, after almost three decades now, is yet to reach the place he claims to be going to, as the messiah that will change the party and its electoral fortunes. This so-called messiah went into the general election and came out a distant fourth with less than five thousand votes despite all the noise of dealing with PDP, their spirit, body, and soul. When the election was lost, the story changed that they were still in the process of rejigging the party which is gradually getting into its fifth year.

What they are yet to understand is that the people of Enugu are not fools. There is no way Chief Aghugho Nnaji from Nkanu West will defeat Chief Obiakpo Mbah from Nkanu East with APC. It is a well-organized political miscalculation and complete ignorance of reality that can make someone believe that story. There is no way an APC led by Ebe Ana Eje, Ana Adiro Eru Eru, can win anything in the state except it stops telling lies or that PDP makes a critical error.

The truth is that APC, with somebody from Nkanu West who is not even popular as a minister, cannot win the governorship except they bring another person with broader appeal and acceptance beyond a limited support base. What is left now in APC are five paid social media warriors and party executives struggling to keep the structure alive. Most of them know the truth but are too deep into it to admit publicly that they have lost grip.

It is almost five years since the current leadership of the party in Enugu State took over but they are yet to win any single election apart from removal of elected party officials. Rather than dwell in delusion, the APC Enugu State should go back to the drawing board and begin the hard work of rebuilding trust, loyalty, and real grassroots presence but that has to happen when they get a credible candidate. APC Enugu State should know that the political future of Enugu cannot be decided on social media or by meetings in hotels. It requires groundwork, sacrifice, and a candidate the people can relate to.

Many people are not happy with Nwoke-Owo, the Obiakpo worldwide but cannot join a sinking ship to add salt to their injury because Enugu people are politically aware and well informed. They also do not easily fall for cheap propaganda. If APC continues on this current path of misdirection, it will remain a noise-making machine with little to show when the real battle begins.
