Tinubu’s Legacy Projects Get 50% Funding Boost in South East as Umahi Vows Massive Infrastructure Transformation

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has revealed a significant financial boost for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s infrastructure projects in Nigeria’s South East region, noting that funding for a key 123-kilometre project has been increased by 50 percent, bringing its total value to ₦464 billion.

Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of the Enugu-Onitsha dual carriageway in Enugu State, Umahi disclosed that 30 percent of the project’s cost has already been paid, with an additional 20 percent recently approved. He praised the President’s commitment to regional development, stating that such investments are evidence of inclusive governance under the Renewed Hope agenda.

Umahi emphasized that the South East is set to experience massive infrastructure transformation, citing the Second Niger Bridge and several major road corridors as part of this development wave. He commended President Tinubu’s inclusive approach to road construction, stating that all six geopolitical zones are receiving fair attention in the federal government’s infrastructure plans.

He further described the new road designs as a shift towards modern, aesthetically pleasing, and durable road infrastructure, calling it a “vision in action” that will redefine Nigeria’s connectivity for future generations. According to Umahi, these efforts reflect the administration’s long-term goals for nationwide development and sustainability.

Addressing the political aspect, Umahi called on the Igbo people to reciprocate the President’s support by aligning fully with his vision and policies. He stated firmly that the South East stands with Tinubu, and he believes the region’s support will grow even stronger as the benefits of these projects become more visible.

The Minister also expressed satisfaction with the contractor handling the ongoing work on the Enugu-Onitsha highway, praising the quality and commitment shown on the ground.

He concluded by reaffirming that all five South Eastern states — Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Imo, and Enugu — would benefit from this wave of development, marking a new chapter in the region’s infrastructure growth under President Tinubu’s administration.
