The Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, is set to confer one of Tivland’s most distinguished traditional titles, Zegébar-U-Tiv, on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and his wife, Dr. Martina Nentawe Yilwatda.
The announcement was made in a press statement issued by the Yilwatda family of Dungung in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to the statement, the honour will be bestowed in the presence of the Tiv Traditional Council.
The conferment ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 13 December 2025, at the iconic J.S. Tarka Stadium in Gboko, Benue State, followed by a grand reception.
The revered title recognises the couple’s contributions to national unity, social harmony, and grassroots development.
Prof. Nentawe, described as a bridge-builder and strong advocate for peaceful coexistence, has maintained close relations with the Tiv nation, further strengthening connections across the Middle Belt region.
His wife, Dr. Martina Yilwatda, is being honoured for her impactful work in education, gender empowerment, and public health, particularly her support for vulnerable groups and families.
The Yilwatda family has extended invitations to traditional rulers, political leaders, friends, and well-wishers from within and outside Nigeria to witness what they describe as a historic milestone.
The event is expected to showcase a colourful display of Tiv culture and serve as a celebration of leadership, unity, and enduring intercommunal friendship.
