The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called on Christians in the South-East and South-South to use the occasion of Easter celebration to pray for peace and the unity of the country.
The South East Zonal Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Gidado Sidikki, who made the call in a statement to the public in Awkaon Easter Sunday, described the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the pillar of the Christian faith and a period to reflect on His earthly mission marked by good works.
He therefore urged Christians to continue living in peace and harmony with other Nigerians amongst them. He also pleaded that the governments of the region should carry MACBAN members along in their programs on unity.
He states as follows:
“I sincerely recommend that the uniqueness of Nigeria in its diversity of tribes, languages, cultures, religions and trades should be strategically harnessed to everyone’s advantage based on the adoption of comparative advantage of the country’s economic model.
“Nigerian citizens should be encouraged to freely engage themselves anywhere across the country, provided that such engagements are legitimate and with a peaceful coexistence.
“The federal government should ensure that Nigerians doing business across their tribal lines are duly protected.”
