You’re a Trader, Not a Leader — Reno Omokri Blasts Peter Obi Over Tinubu Absence Claim

—– Says Tinubu has remained actively engaged with national affairs.

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has sharply criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over comments questioning President Bola Tinubu’s whereabouts, describing Obi’s remarks as misleading and irresponsible.

Omokri’s reaction followed a post by Obi on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, where the former Anambra State governor alleged that President Tinubu had abandoned governance by spending prolonged periods outside the country. Obi also suggested that Nigerians had not heard directly from the President since December 2025.

Responding via X, Omokri accused Obi of deliberately misinforming the public, insisting that the Presidency had been transparent about Tinubu’s movements and activities. He stated that the President is currently in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, attending the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, a trip that was publicly announced.

Omokri further countered Obi’s assertion that the President had not addressed the nation since December, noting that Tinubu delivered a New Year’s Day broadcast to Nigerians.

He also highlighted the President’s visits to Borno, Bauchi, and Lagos states between December 21 and 23, 2025, during which he attended official and social engagements, including a wedding ceremony in Maiduguri and a condolence visit to the family of Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.

He explained that after the engagements, the President proceeded on a short vacation as permitted by the Constitution, stressing that such actions could not reasonably be described as neglect of duty.

Omokri concluded by accusing Obi of political desperation, stating that the former presidential candidate’s comments reflected an attempt to score points by casting doubt on the President’s commitment to governance rather than offering constructive leadership.
