The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State, Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa, has urged party members and supporters to remain united, disciplined and focused as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Ohaa said commitment to the collective objectives of the NDC would strengthen the party and improve its chances of securing victory at the polls.
He made the call in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ude Jideofor, in Enugu on Tuesday.
The NDC governorship candidate urged party faithful to remain committed to the ideals and objectives of the party despite what he described as temporary challenges, political provocations and distractions from opposition parties.
According to him, the strength of any political organisation depends on the unity, discipline and loyalty of its members.
He cautioned members against allowing external influences or internal disagreements to derail the party’s collective mission.
“We must not allow distractions, rumours, provocations or activities from opposition parties to divide our ranks or shift our attention from the task before us,” Ohaa said.
He appealed to party members to place the interest of the NDC above individual ambitions and personal differences, stressing that political victory requires sacrifice, patience, discipline and commitment to a common cause.
Ohaa also urged members at the state, senatorial, local government and ward levels to work together, respect the party’s leadership structures and intensify grassroots mobilisation, membership expansion and effective communication with the electorate.
The NDC candidate cautioned party faithful against engaging in unnecessary public quarrels or responding to every statement coming from opposition quarters.
“Not every provocation deserves a response. Our energy should be directed towards building our structures, engaging our people and presenting the NDC as a credible alternative for the people of Enugu State,” he stated.
Ohaa further called on party leaders and supporters to demonstrate maturity in their political engagements.
He said disagreements within a growing political movement should be resolved through dialogue, consultation and established party mechanisms rather than public confrontation.
According to him, the 2027 election would require a united and well-organised NDC, with every member playing a role in strengthening the party from the grassroots.
He urged supporters to remain committed to the broader vision of providing purposeful, accountable and people-oriented leadership for Enugu State.
Ohaa maintained that victory would not come through individual efforts alone but through the collective strength of members willing to sacrifice, mobilise and remain committed to the party’s vision.
