Rose Idibia, the mother of Nigerian music star Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia, has made a public plea for Nigerians to intervene in what she claims is an unusual situation involving her son. In a video circulating on social media, Mrs. Idibia expressed deep concern over 2Baba’s ongoing divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia, and his newfound relationship with Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru.

According to Mrs. Idibia, her son is “not in his right senses” and has been acting out of character since announcing his separation from Annie. She specifically called on Osawaru, the 31-year-old legislator representing Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, to “free” her son by removing the beads she allegedly placed on his wrist and neck. Addressing the public, she urged Nigerian mothers to help her plead with Osawaru to release 2Baba from what she believes is an unnatural influence.

The controversy intensified after a viral video showed 2Baba proposing to Osawaru just a day after publicly acknowledging their relationship. Osawaru, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and granddaughter of billionaire Gabriel Igbinedion, has faced backlash, with many accusing her of being responsible for the breakdown of 2Baba’s marriage.

In response, 2Baba took to Instagram to defend Osawaru, denouncing claims that she had interfered in his marriage. He insisted that his relationship with Osawaru was genuine and had nothing to do with his split from Annie. The singer passionately declared his love for the lawmaker and affirmed his desire to marry her.

On February 12, 2025, 2Baba further solidified his stance by posting a picture of Osawaru with the caption, “Now this is my world. Make una help me beg am to marry me.” This post followed his official announcement of his separation from Annie on January 26, 2025.

2Baba and Annie’s love story dates back to when they met as teenagers, with their marriage taking place in Dubai in 2013. Over the years, they welcomed two children together, but their relationship has faced numerous challenges. Now, with the singer openly professing his love for Osawaru, his mother remains deeply distressed, believing her son is under an influence beyond his control.
