The commissioning of ultra-modern bus terminals and the rollout of 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses across Enugu State on August 14, 2025,covering Gariki, Abakpa, Holy Ghost and Nsukka bus terminals has continued to generate reactions, with the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr. Jude Asogwa, hailing Governor Peter Mbah as a “professor in leadership.” Speaking on Freedom Square live on Solid 100.9FM, Asogwa commended the governor for executing simultaneous projects in security, education, health, tourism and infrastructure within two years, stressing that Enugu is being positioned for global relevance. He particularly thanked the Governor for the flag off of over 5000 shop spaces at the Nsukka International Market.

He also noted that the bus terminals, including the Nsukka bus terminal, has already boosted the local economy by attracting investors and opening up the community to wider markets, given its strategic role as host of the University of Nigeria. Expressing delight, Asogwa declared there was “no vacancy in the Lion Building, come 2027.”

On security, he praised the deployment of technology through the Command-and-Control Centre and other interventions, saying they have restored safety along the Nsukka notorious routes, while the council has complemented these with neighbourhood watch groups and drone surveillance.
Asogwa also highlighted the revival of Hotel Presidential, describing it as proof of the governor’s ability to turn abandoned projects into revenue-generating assets. He linked the project, alongside the planned establishment of Government Technical Colleges in all the federal constituencies in the state, the launch of Enugu Air, building of smart schools, type 2 health centres and agricultural programmes, to the governor’s target of raising Enugu’s GDP from N4 billion to N30 billion as proposed. These initiatives, he said, are laying the foundation for reduced poverty, better education, and a stronger economy.
Outlining his council’s role, Asogwa said Nsukka Local Government Area is aligning with the governor’s vision by fixing roads, tackling erosion, providing boreholes and transformers, and investing in human capital. He cited the Nsukka Tech Hub, youth football talent hunts, scholarships for indigent students, and ICT training for teachers as part of ongoing initiatives, while also noting the establishment of community committees to strengthen transparency and citizen engagement.
Describing Mbah as “an institution and role model,” Asogwa said the governor is creating an enabling environment where businesses and professionals can thrive, pointing to the successful hosting of the NBA conference as evidence of Enugu’s growing appeal. He pledged to complement the governor’s vision despite operating at a different scale. He thanked both Gov. Mbah and the president of the Federal Republic Bola, Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the emergence of the first indigenous Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Prof. Ortuanya.
Reassuring residents, he concluded, “Governor Mbah has a clear mission and vision. With cooperation and support, we will continue to move forward as one family.”
