Rigging Won’t Happen Under My Watch, Peter Obi Tells Nigerians

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has vowed to prevent election rigging if elected president in the 2027 general election.

Obi made the pledge during an interview with Arise Television, where he outlined some of the priorities of his proposed administration.

The former Anambra State governor said he would tackle corruption, reduce waste in governance, strengthen law and order and ensure that political parties operate properly.

He specifically promised to ensure that the electoral process is transparent and that votes cast by Nigerians are properly counted.

“Rigging won’t take place under my watch. The parties will function as parties and things will be done properly,” Obi said.

Obi also said his administration would focus on restoring national unity and improving security, while prioritising critical sectors such as healthcare and education.

He said his goal would be to restore honour and respect to Nigeria by ensuring that government institutions function effectively and that public resources are managed responsibly.

The NDC candidate further pledged to fight corruption and address what he described as waste in governance, alongside efforts to strengthen law and order.

His comments come amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with opposition figures and political parties intensifying their campaigns and positioning for the contest.
